About me
More about my style and my story.
My documentary style is a great fit for couples who are not into the whole posing for photos kind of thing, and instead, just want to have a great time on their wedding day, without worrying about the photography - or the photographer!
My style can be described as reportage, wedding photojournalism, authentic story telling (and so on); however, I simply like to call it creative documentary photography - and with a smile. I think this sums it up pretty well. I'm there to tell the story of your wedding day, just as it happens and with a creative touch. But I also pride myself on putting everyone at ease, I like to fit in with the guests, be polite, accommodating, friendly and sociable, whilst unobtrusively capturing the story of the day.
Often couples mention to me that that they felt it was more like having a friend at their wedding than a photographer, and how astonished they are that it’s possible to capture so many amazing moments without them really noticing me taking the photos! Feedback like this is truly the greatest compliment for me, and I think it illustrates what I’m aiming to achieve and how I'm going about it.
Hey! I’m Jim, a documentary style wedding photographer, based in Zurich, Switzerland.
No fake poses, no fake smiles. Real emotion - caught on camera.
No intrusive camera interruptions, no fake poses or awkward smiles. Just an amazing, love-filled day with your favourite people having lots of fun. Great times captured on camera in my signature documentary style.
To get more of an impression for my work, you can check out my wedding portfolio here, and if you are drawn to my vision and approach, I'd love to hear from you - feel free to tell me a little bit about you and your wedding day and I'll get back with my brochure, pricing and an invitation to get to know each other over a drink (or share one over Skype!).

“Searching for a wedding photographer in Zurich was daunting as we scrolled from one site to the next. Coming across Jim's portfolio was a breath of fresh air and we immediately contacted him. We love his candid/documentary style and when we sat down with him before the big day, we knew he would be a seamless addition to our group and we were right! Jim was with us throughout the afternoon from the city hall ceremony through cocktail hour and because he has such a great personality and is so professional, he fit right in and captured some really special moments. We are so thrilled that we have Jim's photos that truly reflect the day and all it's laughter and celebration. Thank you so much Jim!”
A few facts about me!
I'm from Manchester, a city abundant in creativity, music and football! Although Zürich is very different from that, the Limmatstadt won me over from the first summer I’ve spent here; chilling in and around the river and enjoying the special summer vibes in a multicultural, urban and creative atmosphere. I feel very lucky to call this vibrant town home now and it feels especially familiar when I realise how many faces I recognise after all the weddings I’ve been honoured to shoot here.
My photographic story began when I first explored the magic of film and dark rooms during art college. This naturally led on to further studies in design and photography at Leeds university, and since then I've been lucky enough to travel, take lots (and lots!) of photos and work full-time as a wedding photographer. Five seasons into my career and I can honestly say it's been the best decision I've made! I thoroughly enjoy working with my amazing clients and I feel extremely lucky to be documenting their wonderful wedding stories, year after year.
I love getting to the coast whenever and wherever possible to go surfing. This is my favourite way to spend a long winter escape and during shorter city trips, you’ll find me out and about with my camera shooting some street photography.
